Audio Video Router Circuit

Video Router Term

The video router acts like a switcher, which is a switchboard for video signals used for transporting or routing video signals, from one place to another (from inputs to outputs). In a video router, the number of inputs and outputs varies dramatically, which means the number of input routers usually explained by the number of outputs e.g. 2×1, 8×1, 256×256.

Video Router Crosspoints, Inputs and Ouputs

Internally, a video router configured as a number of crossing points that can be enabled to pass signals in accordance with the desired output. This is based on one input can be routed to any output.

Signals and Control Panels

Transported signal type can be anything from analogue composite video signals of PAL, NTSC, Analogue component and for digital such as SDI, HD-SDI. Broadband routers can also be directing more than one type of digital video signals such as SDI and HD-SDI.

You can find many types of control panels to regulate video routers in use today, such as via the RS242, or IP.

Audio Video Router/Switcher Circuit

Here is an audio video router (switcher) is configured for 8-input x-output, which is controlled from a computer, such as from parallel or serial port. EACH audio / video output can be switched to any of the eight inputs, separately.

The circuit uses 5VDC as VCC and-7VDC as VEE. The video inputs are terminated to GND by 75 ohm resistors.

One module drives one audio video output and has a 34-pin connector to plug into the system interface. You cans use video OPA-s on the 4051 output instead. (Designed by Peter JAKAB). That note you cans get full integrated video multiplexers from Maxim for best audio video router.
