Adjustable Switching Adaptor Circuit
This is an easy way to create an adjustable switching adaptor power supply that uses a monolithic L4970A Switching Regulator IC DC-DC converter family. By using a negative reference voltage equal to the value 5.1 device, then this is a classical solution with high performance.
Negative reference voltage is raised another secondary winding of the mains transformer, at low voltage of about 8V AC and able to give a few dozen mA. To follow the workings of the adjustable switching adaptor, please download the Application Note L4970A IC.
Variable switching regulator circuit can generate a voltage range from 0 to 25V DC with maximum current 10A. If you can design a PCB with careful, a switching adapter that is small enough can be produced.
